The race is on! Joby and Bill started the race to Hawaii today. The had a good start, not first over the line but made up time quicky and passed under the Golden Gate Bridge first. These pics start out at the yacht club where Raindrop was from the end of June until this morning. As Becky and I - Becky is Bill's wife, Bill is on the boat with Joby - arrived at the St. Francis Yacht Club, they were arriving and could be seen near Alcatraz. There are several shots of them 'warming up' in the bay prior to the start, some pics at the St. Francis moorage and then the start. At the start, there are three boats vying for position. Shortly after the cannon was fired they were off! Becky and I barely made it to the bridge to see them cross under and head out to sea. It was pretty exciting! I have to say, the boat looked pretty small in those big waters as it crossed under that big bridge but it was awesome to see. Be sure to track them on the webiste.
