In these photos we celebrate:
*A successful year of the East Coast's first (!) Filipino American Studies Program at the University of Maryland, College Park. Congrats to the Filipino Cultural Association and Asian American Studies at UMCP plus everyone who made Saturday's gala a success.
*The launch of two scholarships in honor of General Antonio Taguba (guest speaker) and the late Philip Vera Cruz.
*40 years of Asian American Studies at a Merienda hosted by Juanita Tamayo-Lott, one of the original founders at SF State.
FANHS PA President & VP Kim and Cathy drove from Philadelphia. You'll recognize familiar faces: Larry Shinagawa (AAS Director) Gem Daus (Instructor), Kris Valderrama (speaker), Jeff Cabusao (keynote), Bow Salientes (FIND Co-Chair, 1995), Rita Cacas, Tony Sarmiento, Pete & Lee Sarmiento, Ben De Guzman, and Belen DeLa Pena (who hosted the FYA Drill Team in the 1980s).
